General Information:

Madagascar is the 4th largest Island in the world and almost looks like a continent lying just of the East Coast of Africa.

For many years it was a socialists country and it still struggles to overcome socialism. At the moment a political fight and power struggle is going on and we can pray that God will really put the right man in power to rule this peace loving nation.

Madagascar has a population of almost 15 million people and it doubled in 30 years since independence. It is one of the 15 poorest countries in the world with a very high infant mortality rate. This brings down life expectancy to about 53 years of age.

The work was officially started in 1993 with 4 children. Less than 10 years later, more than 17.000 children are being reached every week by workers of C.E.F.

When Rev. Frik van Rensburg and his family went to Madagascar in 1993 their aim was to get C.E.F Madagascar under National leadership in a short time, because we believe that you can reach your own people the best.

In 2000 the work of C.E.F in Madagascar came under the leadership of a Malagasy Pastor of the METM church, Diavolana Andrianarijaona.

Diavolana is married to Fanja and they have 2 children; Volana and Fitiavana.

C.E.F Madagascar has 22 full time workers, 3 missionaries and more than 300 volunteer workers.

Far as little as $100 a month a worker can reach about 1000 children a week.

Madagascar already sent start term missionaries out to the Comore Island group and Miss Rasoanantenaina Marie Marthe is a full time missionary from Madagascar to South Africa.

The main religion in Madagascar is still Ancestral worship, but we believe, with the help of your prayers, the children can change Madagascar to the glory of God.

Many people and groups come to Madagascar to help with distribution of food, financially, etc. The biggest need is not money or food, but Jesus.

After starting to work with street children in 1993,
Rev. Frik van Rensburg said :

"It is better for a child
to go cold to Jesus than to go warm to hell."
